Cantorial path

At Etz Haim, we believe that a Chazzan is more than a beautiful voice — he is a leader, a teacher, and a spiritual guide who elevates the community through the art of prayer.

Our Cantorial Path offers a comprehensive training program for aspiring cantors, combining liturgical knowledge with musical tradition and leadership skills. Our goal is to form cantors who are not only musically gifted but also knowledgeable, inspiring, and spiritually present leaders for diverse contemporary communities.

The Goal

Our Cantorial Path offers a unique two-year program combining liturgical music training with selected areas of rabbinic studies.

In the first year, students follow sections of the Rabbinical Path, gaining a foundation in some aspects of Jewish law, tradition, and pastoral practice, alongside introductory cantorial studies.

The second year focuses on cantorial skills and the rich variety of Jewish musical traditions. Students will explore Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Italian, Chassidic niggunim, and modern liturgical compositions.

Upon completion of the program, students will receive a Cantorial Diploma from Etz Haim European Rabbinical Academy.
